Position title: Intern, Business Systems and Corporate Events

This internship spans the full 2025–2026 academic year and is divided into two sessions:
- Session I: September 16 – November 20, 2025
- Session II: January 13 – April 9, 2026
Selected candidates are expected to participate in both sessions.
Company Background: MFA, based in Washington, DC, New York, Brussels and London, represents the global alternative asset management industry. MFA’s mission is to advance the ability of alternative asset managers to raise capital, invest, and generate returns for their beneficiaries. MFA advocates on behalf of its membership and convenes stakeholders to address global regulatory, operational, and business issues. MFA’s member firms collectively manage a diverse group of investment strategies. Member firms help pension plans, university endowments, charitable foundations, and other institutional investors diversify their investments, manage risk, and generate attractive returns over time.
Essential responsibilities:
- Assist in producing Events & Membership Development reports including new members, prospect pipelines and current member engagement.
- Research and provide recommendations for streamlined reporting processes.
- Research and data entry support, utilizing online databases and search engines. Manage profiles in CRM and on WordPress.
- Analyze membership data to understand the needs of MFA members, identify key trends, patterns, and insights that can inform advocacy efforts and commercial opportunities.
- Support in-person and virtual events, including membership meetings, forums, seminars, and conferences by providing notetaking and identifying ways technology can enhance the member experience.
- Assist with in-person event logistics including registration and tracking attendance.
- Draft user-friendly standard operating procedures (SOPs) that outline clear step-by-step instructions for performing key tasks and processes, incorporating data visualization such as screenshots and diagrams.
- Collaborate with Business Systems Manager and Events team on daily tasks and special projects as needed.
- Develop and present a capstone intern research project.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program. Communications, economics, public policy, and related programs are preferred.
- Available to commit to both the 2025 and 2026 sessions.
- Available to work during MFA’s hybrid hours (9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.), in the NY office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional remote work on Monday and Friday. Daily hours are flexible, but in-person attendance on T/W/Th is required.
- Possess a strong interest in the financial services industry, as well as information technology or event logistics.
- Experience with HTML, WordPress, or customer relationship management systems (CRM) is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented culture that values the importance of being a good teammate, communicator, and partner.
- Demonstrated ability to self-start, think ahead, problem solve, and engage proactively with high professionalism, reliability, and accountability.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time management skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Compensation: $25 per hour
