MFA statement on SEC Custody Rule proposal

Washington, D.C. — MFA issued the following statement in response to the SEC’s Custody Rule proposal:

“MFA appreciates the SEC’s effort to address longstanding issues with the Custody Rule that have created uncertainty for investment advisers. The proposed amendments are an important step towards modernizing custodial practices for private fund managers and custodians. We welcome the clarity the proposal aims to provide regarding private market investments, discretionary trading, and digital assets. We look forward to working with the Commission on a modernized framework that maintains strong investor protections and reflects how today’s markets operate.” — Jennifer Han, MFA Chief Legal Officer
